These Terms & Conditions apply to all services and products offered by Yellow Velo GmbH, including bicycle tours, bicycle and equipment rentals, and purchases made through the Yellow Velo online shop.

By booking a tour, renting equipment, or placing an order through this website, the customer agrees to the following terms.

Swiss law applies. Jurisdiction is Interlaken, Switzerland.

 

Terms and Conditions for the Yellow Velo Online Shop

 

Shipping

Orders are normally processed within two working days after payment.

Items are shipped using Swiss Post or DPD.

Shipping costs for international orders may vary and can be requested before ordering.

Prices and Payment

All prices are displayed in Swiss Francs (CHF).

Accepted payment methods include:

  • TWINT
  • Visa
  • Mastercard

Payment must be completed before goods are shipped.

Returns

Items may be returned within 14 days of purchase.

Returned goods must:

  • be unused
  • be in original condition

Return shipping costs are the responsibility of the customer.

Refunds will be issued within 30 days after receiving the returned item.

Shipping costs are non-refundable.

Transport Damage

Yellow Velo GmbH is not liable for damage caused during shipping.

Any transport damage claims must be submitted directly to the courier.

Ownership of Goods

All goods remain the property of Yellow Velo GmbH until paid in full.

Product Descriptions

Many items sold by Yellow Velo are vintage or previously used

Although items are inspected and bikes are serviced by a professional mechanic (unless otherwise stated), normal signs of use should be expected.

Customers should review photos and descriptions carefully before purchasing.

Terms and Conditions for Bicycle Tours

The following terms must be read and accepted before booking any tour with Yellow Velo GmbH. The customer confirms on behalf of themselves and any participants included in the booking that they understand and accept these conditions.

Participant Fitness

Tour participants should be physically fit and, to the best of their knowledge, free from injury or illness that could affect their ability to participate safely.

Participants must inform Yellow Velo GmbH of any known injuries or medical conditions before the tour begins. In such cases, the tour guide will decide whether participation is possible.

If the guide determines that participation is unsafe due to a pre-existing condition, the participant may not join the tour and no refund will be issued.

If you are unsure whether a tour is suitable, please contact us before booking.

Age and Ability

Participants must:

  • be at least 16 years old (Legal age for riding of E-bikes in Switzerland)
  • be able to confidently ride a bicycle with gears
  • be capable of maintaining a steady group pace for the full tour distance

The tour guide reserves the right to ask participants to stop participating if they are unable to keep up or if their riding is unsafe. In such cases, no refund will be issued.

Equipment Responsibility

Participants must treat all equipment provided by Yellow Velo GmbH with due care and return it in good condition.

If equipment is damaged during the tour due to misuse or negligence, the rider or legal guardian is liable for:

    • Repair costs (CHF 90 per hour)
    • Bicycle recovery costs (CHF 90 per hour)
    • Damaged parts replacement costs (Charged at retail value)
    • Labour charges (CHF 90 per hour)

    After any accidents we will conduct a post crash safety inspection. This inspection will be charged at CHF 90 per hour.

Risk and Safety

Cycling involves inherent risks, including riding on public roads, varying terrain, and changing weather conditions.

Participants must:

  • follow instructions given by tour guides
  • obey Swiss traffic laws
  • ride responsibly and safely

Participants accept the risks associated with cycling activities.

Helmet Use

All participants must agree to wear a bicycle helmet during tours organised by Yellow Velo GmbH.

Insurance and Liability

Participants are responsible for ensuring they have adequate insurance coverage for accidents or damage.

Yellow Velo GmbH does not provide insurance for accident, equipment damage or liability for customers.

To the extent permitted by Swiss law, Yellow Velo GmbH and its staff accept no liability for accidents, injuries, or damages.

Where liability cannot legally be excluded, it is limited to the amount paid for the tour.

Tour Weather Conditions

Tours operate in most weather conditions, including rain.

If weather conditions become unsafe (for example storms, strong winds, deep snow, or hail), Yellow Velo GmbH may cancel the tour.

In this case customers will either:

  • receive a full refund, or
  • be offered an alternative date

If weather conditions are mildly adverse (such as rain), the tour will normally proceed.

Customers may request a reschedule; however this depends on:

  • tour availability
  • bicycle size availability

If rescheduling is not possible and the booking is cancelled, the standard cancellation conditions apply.

Tour Cancellation Conditions for Regular Tour Bookings 

If a tour is cancelled by Yellow Velo GmbH, customers will receive a full refund.

For cancellations within 24 hours or if a customer does not attend the tour start time, no refund will be given.

For cancellation made more than 24 hours before the tour the booking will be refunded in full. Rescheduling may be possible on request depending on availability.

Cancellations for Private Tour Bookings

Cancellations made more than 7 days (168 hours) before the tour will receive a full refund.

Cancellations made between 7 and 4 days before the tour will be charged a cancellation fee of 50% of booking value

Cancellations made within 4 days (96 hours) will not receive a refund. Customer may request rescheduling of the tour, this will be at the discretion of Yellow Velo GmbH.

Terms and Conditions for Bicycle and Equipment Rentals

Before renting equipment from Yellow Velo GmbH, the responsible individual signing the rental agreement confirms that they understand and accept the following conditions.

Rider Ability

The contract signee confirms that all persons using the rented equipment:

  • are physically able to ride a bicycle
  • understand how to operate the equipment safely

If unsure, customers must request guidance before signing the rental agreement.

Customer Data

All personal data provided in the rental agreement must be correct.

Responsibility for Equipment

The signee of the rental contract is responsible for:

  • Loss of rental equipment
  • Theft of rental equipment
  • Bicycle recovery costs (CHF 90 per hour)
  • Damaged parts replacement costs (Charged at retail value)
  • Labour charges for repairs (CHF 90 per hour)

After any accidents we will conduct a post crash safety inspection on our bikes. This inspection will be charged at CHF 90 per hour.

Safe Use

All riders must obey Swiss road and traffic regulations.

Yellow Velo GmbH may confiscate rental equipment if riding is unsafe or the rider appears incapable of operating the bicycle safely. In such cases no refund will be issued.

Overnight Storage

Rental bicycles kept overnight must be stored securely and under cover.

Theft

In the event of theft, the customer must notify:

  • the Police
  • Yellow Velo GmbH

within 24 hours.

Sub-Rental

Sub-renting bicycles to third parties is not permitted without written permission from Yellow Velo GmbH.

Breakdowns

Yellow Velo GmbH cannot always collect bicycles in case of breakdown or accident.

In these cases customers are responsible for returning the bicycle to the shop.

If this is not possible, the bicycle must be securely locked and the location reported to Yellow Velo.

Equipment Inspection

Customers should visually inspect rental equipment before use.

By accepting the equipment, the customer confirms it has been received in proper condition.

Insurance and Liability

Customers should obtain adequate insurance coverage.

Yellow Velo GmbH does not insure customers for accidents or damages.

To the extent permitted by Swiss law, liability of Yellow Velo GmbH is excluded.

Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the amount paid for the rental.

Helmets

Helmets are strongly recommended.

  • Adult helmets available for rental
  • Helmets free for riders under 18

Rental Return Times

May – October

Equipment must be returned by 17:30 on the final day.

November – April

Equipment must be returned by 16:30.

Late returns incur a charge of:

CHF 75 per 30 minutes

Early returns are not refundable.

Data Protection

Customer data is stored only for the purpose of processing bookings, rentals, and orders.

Where necessary, information may be shared with service providers (for example shipping companies).

All personal data is treated confidentially in accordance with Swiss data protection law.

Severability Clause

If any provision of these Terms & Conditions becomes invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain valid.

Invalid provisions will be replaced with a legally valid provision that most closely reflects the intended purpose.
